Charges pending after crashes

Two drivers involved in crashes on Saturday, Oct. 3, are facing charges.

State police at Lehighton said a crash occurred about 2:05 a.m. along Summer Mountain Road, in Towamensing Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Ryan McGarry, 22, of Lehighton, was driving a Dodge Dakota southbound when the truck went onto the berm and struck a tree. McGarry was injured and taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for treatment. Troopers added that charges are pending.The second crash occurred about 11:45 a.m. along Frable Drive in Eldred Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Jeffrey A. Stanley, 38, of Kunkletown, was driving a 1999 Dodge Dakota westbound and failed to negotiate a right curve in the road due to speed. The vehicle traveled northwest, partially on the shoulder, then spun counter-clockwise about 90-degrees across both lanes of travel. The passenger side then struck a utility pole on the south berm, then spun about 180 degrees clockwise and traveled south about five feet coming to rest off the road.Stanley sustained a minor injury in the crash but did not require medical attention. Trooper cited him for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.
