Published October 05. 2009 02:55PM

A New Ringgold man has been charged with resisting arrest and aggravated assault following an incident in West Penn Township.

Officers were on patrol at 1:50 a.m. Thursday when they observed a vehicle with its lights on at Nothstein's Auto Repair, 443 Clamtown Rd. As the patrol car passed the lot, the lights on the other vehicle were turned off. The officer turned around and went back to the lot, where he observed a male standing next to the vehicle.

The officer approached to see if he could assist the male, who was identified as Thomas Rhoades, 57, of 158 Angel Dr., New Ringgold. Rhoades refused to answer the officer's questions and became unruly.

He was taken into custody and charged.
