Tamaqua man faces additional charges

Published November 27. 2009 05:00PM

A Tamaqua man, who was cited two weeks ago for theft of services, has been cited again after another victim came forward to police.

Scott Lee Barron, 40, with a last known address of 307 Race St., Tamaqua, has charged again with theft by deception and receiving stolen property after failing to make vehicle repairs for which he had been paid.

Stephen M. Smolar of Tamaqua reported the incident to police after reading of a similar situation in the TIMES NEWS. Smolar reportedly contracted with Barron on Oct. 5 to make repairs to a vehicle that had been damaged in an accident. Smolar paid Barron $900. Barron then removed the damaged parts from the vehicle on Oct. 7. Since that day, he has failed to make any repairs, return the damaged parts or the payment.

Charges have been filed with District Magistrate Stephen Bayer.
