Roving DUI Patrol results released

The North Central Pa. Regional Sobriety Checkpoint DUI Taskforce and Expanded DUI/Underage Drinking Enforcement Program has released the following information from activities held this past weekend.

A Roving DUI Patrol was held Nov. 21 with six law enforcement departments represented by six officers. A total of 64 vehicles were contacted and detained. Eleven drivers were tested for possible DUI with three motorists cited. Officers issued 24 traffic citations, three seat belt citations, made four criminal arrests and issued 43 warnings.A Sobriety Checkpoint was held Nov. 20 in St. Clair. A total of 1,143 vehicles were contacted with 62 detained. Eight motorists were tested with three adults arrested for DUI. Officers issued 15 traffic citations, made three criminal arrests and issued 42 warnings. Nine departments were represented by 19 officers.Sobriety checkpoints and Roving DUI patrols will also be conducted through Nov. 29 on state routes 61, 183, 901, 209, 309, 443, 895, 125, 25, 924 and 54.Travelers are reminded to dial 911 if they suspect a drunk driver.To report underage drinking, call 1-888-UNDER21.The sobriety checkpoints and Roving DUI patrols are funded through the state Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
