Lehighton's field hockey team capped a perfect season Saturday by defeating Selinsgrove, 1-0, to win the PIAA Class AA state championship.

The Indians, showing everyone who is No. 1 in the above photo, finished the year with an undefeated 26-0 record. During the state playoffs, Lehighton posted four straight shutouts. Corrine McConville netted the game-winner on a penalty stroke in overtime, giving the school its first-ever team state title. At right, McConville (center) hoists the championship trophy with fellow senior Abby Frey while Vanessa Rimbey, left, also celebrates the victory. The Indians are coached by Shawn Hindy.
