Walker Township crash injures four

Four persons were injured, several seriously, in a crash along route 443 in Walker Township Thursday afternoon. The crash involved a sport utility vehicle and a tri axle dump truck. The operator of the truck was traveling west, just west of Route 309 when he attempted to make a right turn off the roadway. In doing so he made a wide swing at which time the suv attempted to go around the truck on the right. The suv drove under the right portion of the truck. Several of the injured were trapped in the wreckage for more than an hour. State police at Frackville are investigating the accident. At least one of the injured was flown from the scene by Penn Star helicopter to St. Luke's Hospital Trauma Center in Bethlehem. Route 443 was closed for several hours.
