Melissa M. Rodgers and Eric R. Smith Jr. wed

Melissa M. Rodgers, daughter of JoAnn and Charles Rodgers of Tamaqua, became the bride of Eric R. Smith Jr., son of Dianne and Eric R. Smith Sr., and the late Donna Smith, of Carlisle, on Sept. 5, 2009 at Trinity United Church of Christ in Tamaqua. The Rev. David W. Grant officiated. Phyllis Paisley was the organist.

Give in marriage by her father, the bride chose Erika Zeigler as maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Jessica Cooper, Rebecca Arline and Ashley Rodgers. The flower girl was Kayla Wolf.Best man duties were performed by Anthony Brandt. Ushers included Allan Walsh, Jason Holmes and Thomas Rodgers. The ring bearer was Lucas Smith, son of the newlyweds.After a reception at the East Penn Sporting Club in Lehighton, the couple traveled to Orlando, Fla., and honeymooned on a Carnival Cruise to Freeport and Nassau in the Bahamas.A shower for the bride was given by her mother and the bridesmaids.The new Mrs. Smith is a 2001 graduate of Tamaqua Area Senior High School. She is employed as a direct support professional for Human Achievement Program in Shiremanstown, Pa.Mr. Smith is a 2002 graduate of Carlisle Senior High School. He is employed as an associate business analyst for Highmark Blue Shield located in Camp Hill, Pa.The couple currently resides in Carlisle.
