Lights, action, 'Spamalot'

Lehighton Area High School Drama Club will be performing "Monty Python's Spamalot" (the school version) at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Lehighton Area High School Auditorium. Doors will open at 7 each night.

"Spamalot" tells the legendary tale of King Arthur's quest to find the Holy Grail. Inspired by the classic comedy film, "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," the musical also diverts a bit from more traditional versions of the legend.Instead, "Spamalot" features shenanigans including a line of beautiful dancing girls, a rude Frenchmen and killer rabbits. Outside, there is plague with a 50 percent chance of pestilence and famine.Throughout the show, Arthur (played by Matt Shanton, senior), traveling with his servant Patsy (Antonio Lorenzo, sophomore), recruits several knights to accompany him on his quest, including Sir Bedevere (Brandon Solt, senior), Sir Robin (Noah Williams, senior), Sir Lancelot (Nathan Kroboth, senior) and Sir Galahad (Tyler Ritter, junior). Besides the rabbits and rude Frenchman, they meet such characters as the Lady of the Lake (played by Marissa Michalik, senior), Prince Herbert (Miguel Gonzalez, junior), Tim the Enchanter (Evan Solt, junior), Not Dead Fred (Alexander Keck, freshman), the Black Knight (Brian Kesek, senior) and the Knights Who Say NI!Other cast members include Aleigh Smith, Allison DeKorte, Cera Gaston, Megan Pompesello, Destiny Moser, Emily Snyder, Justice Cressley, Thomas Phelan, Todd Schaeffer, Michael Bongromo, Rebecca Strohl, Kira Williams, Elizabeth Hartman, Mikayla Blakeslee, Ashley Collins, Kaity Kistler, Courtney Arce and Channel Baez.Book by Eric Idle with music and lyrics by John Du Prez, Neil Innes and Eric Idle.
