A fundraising effort by the Tamaqua Area High School Swim Team Boosters and the Tamaqua Blue Waves Swim Team Boosters netted $8,000 that helped to fund the addition of five lanes on the current scoreboard as well as new scoring plates on the pool deck at the Tamaqua High pool. A total of $6,000 was raised during a recent Vera Bradley Purse Bingo that was co-sponsored by the Blue Waves and Swimming Boosters. An additional $2,000 was contributed by the Blue Waves themselves to meet the total expense of the equipment purchased. Shown presenting the ceremonial check to TAHS Assistant Principal Steve Toth (far left), is, also from left; Janet McCann, Vice President of the TAHS Swim Team Boosters; Tamaqua Blue Waves President Diane Butkus; and TAHS Swim Team Treasurer Maureen Amey.
