Jim Thorpe couple celebrates 60th anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Edward F. Crowley of Jim Thorpe are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on Dec. 28. They were married by the Rev. Jacob William Post in St. Joseph's Church, East Mauch Chunk, now Jim Thorpe.

Mrs. Crowley is the daughter of the late William and Ida Cossman. She was a graduate of East Mauch Chunk High School Class of 1948, and a member of the National Honor Society. She was previously employed by her father at his Chrysler-Plymouth dealership as a secretary. She was also employed as a secretary at Engler's Insurance Company. She has two sisters, Eda Eichhorn of North Wales, and Agnes Wickham of Glenpool, Okla.; and one brother, Edward Cossman of Hatfield.Mr. Crowley is the son of the late Edward and Lottie Crowley. He also was a graduate of East Mauch Chunk High School Class of 1948. He also attended the Carbon County Vo-Tech School in the evenings for three years for electronics. He was employed as an electrical signal maintainer for the Central Railroad of New Jersey for 23 years, until the railroad closed. He then worked for 20 years as the plant superintendent at the Carbon County nursing home, Weatherwood. He has one brother, Donald, of Jim Thorpe.They are the parents of four children, Michael of Tamaqua; Daniel, Patrick, husband of the former Carol Makara, and Cecile, wife of Kevin Zurawa, all of Jim Thorpe. They also have 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Edward F. Crowley
