Jim Thorpe pub, restaurant moving to new location
VICTOR IZZO/SPECIAL TO THE TIMES NEWS An "inside" look at the The Molly Maguires Pub which will be closing its doors this coming Sunday, December 20th 2009 at its present location in Jim Thorpe to soon reopen a short distance away at 5 Hazard Square, where JTs All American Steak & Ale House and a new large, spacious deck next to it are located.
On Sunday, December 20th The Emerald Restaurant and Molly Maguires Pub located in The Inn at Jim Thorpe will be closing its doors for the last time at that location.
This is not an "ending" by any means. Instead, it is a "New Beginning". The successful business establishments are moving to a new location 5 Hazard Square, where JTs All American Steak & Ale House and a new large, spacious deck next to it are located.
The new name of the expanded facility is going to be "Molly Maguires Pub & Steak House".
There will be seating for upwards of 120 people on the deck which is expected to be open for St. Patrick's Day on parade day with a full opening in the Spring.
There will also be an awning and side panels for protection from the weather with heating in the Fall as well as a full bar on the deck with some light entertainment.
While service will be geared towards the outdoors, something that Jim Thorpe is already famous for, its not only going to be for the tourists coming into town. The expanded business and its new deck will also be giving local residents dining on the deck with an outdoor family atmosphere.
They will be able to accommodate people for private parties, weddings, rehearsal dinners, First Communions, and anniversaries, etc.
There will be a new breakfast menu and starting in mid-January, the "Molly Maguires Pub & Steak House" will be serving a full breakfast at the new location; five days a week, Wednesday through Sunday; from 6:30 in the morning until 10:30 a.m. and there will also be "Breakfast on-the-go" to accommodate local office workers.
JT's bar has already been equipped with all new Hi-Definition TVs and they have the NFL package on Sunday's offering their patrons a choice of multiple games at one time.
In light of this transformation, owners Noel and Bernadette Behan noted "We've met the most extraordinary, great people over the last 16 years and we're leaving the present location with a lot of great memories, customers, and friends."
"We are now looking forward to the new challenges and to meeting our old customers at our new location, as well a lot of new ones which we hope to gain along the way. Its going to be better than ever."
