Big cheese

Published December 15. 2009 05:00PM

A lot of cheese has been reported stolen in Carbon County.

State police at Fern Ridge said a refrigerated trailer loaded with assorted cheeses was stolen from the Ambest Hickory Run Travel Plaza, located along SR534, and just off Interstate 80, in East Side Boro.

Troopers said the cheese is valued at $95,000.

According to troopers, a driver for the M.G. Dehn Trucking Co., of Coudersport, Potter County, parked the trailer at the truck stop on Saturday, Dec. 12, about 8:30 a.m. When the driver returned on Monday about 9 a.m. the trailer was gone.

The truck had been making a delivery to New Jersey, according to Marty Dehn, owner of M.G. Dehn Trucking Co.

Dehn says the driver parked the trailer at the travel stop because of bad weather. He then drove the cab to his home nearby.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at (570) 646-2271.
