The Mauch Chunk Opera House located at 14 W. Broadway in Jim Thorpe will host its sixth-annual Christmas Gala fundraising event on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 8 p.m.

This year's Christmas show will feature the internationally acclaimed 4 Celtic Voices, presented by The Mauch Chunk Historical Society and produced by JTAMS productions.

Celebrate the holidays and journey through mystical Celtic lands with the exceptional talents of 4 Celtic voices.

With their sensational voices and stunning good looks, 4 Celtic Voices wow audiences wherever they go. Celeste Ray, Carol Crittenden, Erin Hill and Maria Johnson are an experience not to be missed.

The 4 Celtic Voices concert begins with a journey consisting of two large ensemble numbers. From there, each of the performers' talents is individually showcased in her own spotlighted performance.

Touring Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, Galicia, Northern Spain, France and Brittany via the artful traditions connected with the alluring music created throughout the centuries.

Larger arrangements of Christmas Celtic pieces culminate in the finale of the first half of the show inspiring audiences to sing familiar carols.

Featured in various performances are the traditional Celtic instruments: bowed psaltery, harmonium, flute and Celtic harp. The vocals of the women instantly transport the audience to the ancient and mysterious Lands of the Celts.

The audience enjoys time-honored traditions of Celtic storytelling, poetry, Irish step dancing, and the history of the instruments and composers. Their lore is enthusiastically conveyed by Ray, a founding member noted for her ability to inspire show goers in the musical Celtic tradition of celebration and singing.

The show is part of Jim Thorpe's 28th Annual Olde Time Christmas Festival which takes place December 4, 5, 6 and December 12 and 13.

This gala event is also a fundraiser to help the Mauch Chunk Historical Society preserve and maintain two significant historic buildings in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania: the 1883 Mauch Chunk Opera House and the Marion Hose Company No. 1.

The organization continues to utilize these structures in their historic role as venues for a variety of entertainment, art and cultural events throughout the year.
