Rush Township police arrested 79-year-old Gene S. Lutz of Barnesville for the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old boy.
Lutz, who was taken into custody yesterday at the Hometown Farmer's Market, admitted township police that he gave oral sex to the boy at least six to eight times. He is being charged with eight counts of felony involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, eight counts of felony corruption of minors, two counts each of misdemeanor indecent exposure and misdemeanor indecent assault.The alleged assaults happened between September 2011 and March of 2012 on Hill Top Road in Barnesville.Corey Herring, the investigating officer, stated that police became aware of the incidents Tuesday when the boy reported the sexual assaults. Later Tuesday, Herring said Lutz was interviewed, read his Miranda Rights and agreed to talk to officers.Lutz, who met the boy in June 2011 at the Tamaqua Anthracite Railroad Club, where Lutz serves as secretary, invited him to his home numerous times to use his computer, as well as see his train collection. Lutz told police that he also took the boy camping and on an overnight trip to a flea market.Herring pointed out that the incidents occurred "numerous times" and involved Lutz occasionally dressing as a woman and performing sexual acts on the boy. Herring said Lutz admitted showing the teen pornographic sex videos of himself and another person on two different occasions and that all the sexual contact occurred in his bedroom.Lutz was arraigned before District Judge James R. Ferrier in Orwigsburg and is currently lodged in the Schuylkill County prison in lieu of $50,000 straight cash bail.
