Nesquehoning police reported on the following citations issued by officers.

Chief Sean Smith issued 10 speeding tickets during Oct. 17 and 18 along Route 93 a 55 mph zone. Speeds included 79, 74, 71 and 70.

Smith also cited Megan W. Watkins, 58, of 23 N. Market St., Summit Hill, for retail theft at Redner's Warehouse Market. The incident occurred on Oct. 15. She was charged with taking $31.47 worth of merchandise without paying for it. A first offense, she was issued a nontraffic citation.

Troopers will conduct operation safe stop

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks will be conducting an "operation safe stop" detail on Wednesday.

The operation is to alert the motoring public of the dangers of passing stopped school buses loading or unloading students. Police officers will target selected school bus routes that have demonstrated a high incidence of illegal passes for violations of the stopped school bus statute.

During the operation, which will run between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., marked patrol vehicles will follow targeted school buses.

Luzerne driver in Schuylkill crash

A Luzerne County driver was involved in a one-vehicle crash along Interstate 81 in Kline Township, Schuylkill County, on Monday.

State police at Frackville said Carlos A. Lithgow Ortega, 25, of West Hazleton, was driving a 2014 Ford Escape southbound at 5:50 a.m. and attempting to exit the interstate onto the Route 309 ramp.

Carbon driver in Lehigh crash

A Carbon County driver was involved in a three-vehicle crash in which one of the drivers was cited. State police at Fogelsville said the crash occurred at the intersection of Route 100 and Willow Lane in Lower Macungie Township.

Troopers said Cody A. Mohn, 21, of Fleetwood, Berks County, was driving a 2005 Honda Civic and was going through the intersection when Stephanie G. Tucker, 23, of Macungie, attempted to make a right turn off 100 onto Willow Lane.

Tractor-trailer crashes on I-81

A tractor-trailer rig crashed along Interstate 81 in Ryan Township, Schuylkill County, at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

State police at Frackville said Gerald W. Grant, 65, of Montpelier, Ohio, was driving a 2013 Mack truck with trailer southbound when the rig left the road on the west side. It traveled about 150 feet then re-entered the southbound lane for another 150 feet before leaving the road a second time on the west side.

Minor injury in Monroe crash

A driver sustained a minor injury in a one-vehicle at 11:11 a.m. Thursday along Interstate 80 in Tunkhannock Township, Monroe County.

State police at Fern Ridge said Jeffery S. Hoover, 37, of Curwensville, Clearfield County, was driving a 2003 Ford F150 pickup eastbound when he attempted to retrieve his cellphone and failed to see traffic slowing in front of him. He applied his brakes too late, swerved to the left to avoid a collision, and struck several trees along the left berm.

Hoover was taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for treatment.

Mischief incident at church investigated

State police at Fern Ridge are investigating an act of criminal mischief that occurred at a Monroe County church.

Troopers said criminals damaged a bird bath and decorative steppingstone at the Zion Lutheran Church, located at 1919 Route 209, in Brodheadsville. The incident occurred sometime between Oct. 10 and 12.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at 570-646-2271.

Burglary at former inn being investigated

A burglary at a former inn in Schuylkill County is being investigated.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the former Deer Lake Inn building, located at 1567 Centre Turnpike (Route 61), in West Brunswick Township, was entered sometime before Friday by forced entry.

Once inside the criminals rummaged through the building.

The property is owned by the First National Bank of Fredericksburg.

Theft from vehicle incidents investigated

State police at Fern Ridge are investigating two theft from vehicle incidents, both occurring in the Sun Valley Mountain Estates in Effort.

Troopers said a Samsung cellphone and a leather jacket were taken from a car on Gooseberry Lane. A resident of Mountain Road reported his vehicle was entered and a Garmin GPS unit and a box of .454-caliber cartridges were taken.

Both entries occurred between 11 p.m. Oct. 11 and 1:30 p.m. Oct. 12.

Hit-and-run investigated on I-81

State police at Frackville are investigating a hit-and-run crash that occurred along Interstate 81 in Butler Township, Schuylkill County on Saturday

Trooper said Tricia K. Zimmerman, 22, of Pitman, was driving a 2013 Ford Escape southbound at 6:55 the right lane when another vehicle began to pass her. The other driver swerved partially into the right lane, striking the Escape. This caused Zimmerman to lose control of her vehicle.
