2 cited for retail theft

Rush Township Police recently dealt with two people for retail theft following incidents at the Hometown Commons Wal Mart.

A 17 year old male from Mahanoy City allegedly stole merchandise valued at $179.06. He will also be cited for having an instrument of crime.

Kellie Laine, 43, of Mahanoy City, will be cited for stealing $17.35 in merchandise from the retail store.

Carbon burglary

State police at Fern Ridge are investigating a break-in at a Carbon County residence.

A home at 83 Drakes Drive, in Penn Forest Township, was entered sometime between Jan. 1 and April 20. Removed from the home was copper piping. The property is owned by Thomas J. Scaricaciottoli, 71, of Abrington.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at (610) 377-4270.

Monroe break-in

State police at Lehighton are investigating a burglary at a Monroe County residence. Troopers also reported on theft incidents.

A break-in occurred at the residence of Joseph Lauro, 484 Long Mountain Road, in Polk Township. Forced entry was made through a rear window. Once inside the criminals proceeded to cut copper piping from the basement of the home. The intruder was observed carrying a box of copper while leaving the residence. The incident occurred about 1:30 p.m. on April 15.

Vehicle stop leads to drug charges

A vehicle stop has led to drug charges against the driver.

State police at Fern Ridge said Brett Michael Cooley, 24, of Falls, Wyoming County, was stopped on April 9 along Interstate 80, in Tunkhannock Township, Monroe County, for various equipment violations. A search warrant was obtained for the vehicle and found was a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Troopers said drug charges were filed against Cooley.

Two Monroe County residents have been charged in connection with a burglary at a county residence.

State police at Lehighton said Gabrielle Lynn Mosier, 18, of Saylorsburg, and a 17-year-old male from Sciota, were arrested for a break-in that occurred at the home of John Michael Haggerty, 237 Dogwood Lane, Ross Township. The entry occurred sometime between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on April 16.

Troopers said Mosier entered the home and removed a Nintendo Wii system and several games. She and the teen then pawned the items at a local game shop store for cash.

Two dog complaints

McAdoo Police have dealt with two dog complaints in the last few days.

On April 9, officers were dispatched to Kennedy and Blaine Street for a report of a dog struck by a vehicle. The dog's owner was identified as Barbara Depuy, 23 S. Kennedy Dr. A neighbor had been attempting to find the dog's owner after it was found running loose, when the animal ran out into traffic. After it was struck, the dog bit the hand of a Good Samaritan who had stopped to help.

Charges pending after Carbon crash

State police at Lehighton reported investigating a one vehicle crash about 8:40 a.m. on April 18, in the area of 560 Forest Inn Road, in Towamensing Township, Carbon County.

Troopers said Laura L. Zacharias, of Lehighton, was southbound when she lost control of her vehicle that crashed. Zacharias was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

Troopers said charges are pending against Zacharias.

Carbon man jailed on multiple counts

A Carbon County man was jailed on multiple counts.

State police at Lehighton said Jonathan Allen Groegler, 24, of 167 Forest Inn Road, in Towamensing Township, took the vehicle of his father, Timothy R. Groegler, about 8:30 a.m. on April 17, without his permission. He returned to the home about 9:45 a.m. at which time he was arrested by troopers. At the time he was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.

State police at Lehighton reported on the following citations being issued.

Neil Dorshimer, 29, of Nesquehoning, and Eric Kester, 26, of Parryville, were both cited for harassment following an incident that occurred about 12:56 a.m. on April 9, along Main St., in Parryville. Troopers said the two engaged in a physical altercation at that location.

Two juveniles from Weissport were cited for harassment following an incident in the area of 201 Park St., Weissport. Troopers said the two engaged in a confrontation after getting off of a school bus at that location.

Vehicle stop leads to pending counts

A vehicle stop along a Schuylkill County road led to charges pending against the driver.

State police at Frackville said Magdalano Bazan, 40, of West Hazleton, was stopped about 12:47 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, in the 300 block of S. Kennedy Drive, in McAdoo, for a traffic violation.

At the stop Bazan provided troopers with a fraudulent state identification card. His identity was unable to be verified so troopers took him into custody and transported him to the barracks.
