Elk Lighting wins Carbon County Cup Tourney

The Panther Valley U10 Elk Lighting Bald Eagles won first place in the Carbon County Cup Tournament Nov. 3. Team members are first row, from left, Jonathan Byers and Cody Werkheiser. Jim Thorpe fall baseball team undefeated

The Jim Thorpe 7-8 year-old Fall Baseball team recently completed a perfect 9-0 season. The Tamaqua Little League 9-10 year-olds were recently honored at the league's banquet. The team earned the 9-10 Panther Valley Tournament championship with an undefeated record and also claimed the District 18 South Bracket title. Tigers earn LASC Fun Day U8 crown

The Tigers' U8 team recently captured the tourmament championship at the Lehighton Area Soccer Club's Fun Day. The Tigers earned victories over the Panthers, Bobcats and Cougars' squads. Marian Baseball Camp

The Marian Colts Baseball team recently held its Skills & Drills Baseball Camp for area youths. Under the direction of head coach Jeff Nietz and assistant coach Curt Gimbi, young players from all over the area learned fundamental skills while taking part in various competitions with players from the Colt program acting as instructors. Braves cop Jim Thorpe LL Minor League title

The Braves were recently crowned the champions of the Jim Thorpe Little League Minor League Division after completing their season with a record of 10-0-2. The Braves rolled to a 20-6 win over the Reds in the championship game to earn their title. Diamondbacks claim Jim Thorpe LL Major League crown

The Diamondbacks recently posted a 5-1 victory over the Dodgers in the Jim Thorpe Little League championship game to claim the Major League title. The Dbacks finished with a record of 12-2 and received home runs this season from Brian Moscoso, Matt Day, Justin Mahmde, Nicholas Rosahac and Joey Kamieniecki.

The Mountain Karate Academy in Lehighton had a storng showing by its students at the USA National Karate Championships which were held recently at Split Rock Resort in Lake Harmony. Towamensing White Sox win tournament

The Towamensing White Sox defeated the Towamensing Phillies 1-0 in the championship game of the Hazle Township Ice Breaker tournament. In the title contest, Cody Green delivered the game-winning RBI in the sixth inning. Jared Zacharias had two hits in the game while Tanner Burnett pitched a shutout. Prior to the title game, the White Sox defeated Whitehaven Market, 16-3, Weatherly 2nd Street Deli, 13-2, and McAdoo Fire Company, 10-0.
