Blue Mountain captured its league championship and advanced to the state tournament at Spring-Ford this weekend in Cal Ripken League 10U play. The team, comprised of players from East Penn Township, West Penn Township and the Northern Lehigh School District, will play two games on both Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13. Team members include, front row, from left, Grant Olewine, Logan Davis, Evan Zambo, Ryan Hammond, Josh Kistler and John Abidelli. Second row, Brett Misera, Brayden Hamby, Matt Frame, Zach Chamberlain, Riley Albert and Teague Hertzog.

2014 Anthracite Little League graduates

The Anthracite Little League recently honored all players who are in their final year in the program. The Lansford Little League kicked off its 2014 season on April 28 with Opening Day ceremonies and games. Carbon United finishes season undefeated

The Carbon United OutKasts Boys U-9 soccer team recently finished its season with an undefeated record. The team competes in the Lehigh Valley Soccer League. The OutKasts allowed just three goals the entire season, which was their first together. Anthracite team finishes unbeaten

The Anthracite 11-12 year-old Fall Baseball League team recently ended its season with a perfect 10-0 record. Tamaqua Blue wins PVLL 9-10 year-old title

Tamaqua Blue won the Panther Valley Little League Tournament 9-10 year-old championship. Tamaqua Blue finished tournament play with a perfect 7-0 record and in the process captured the Joe Plasko Memorial Trophy.

West Penn Warriors U-10 team claims Pine Grove tourney

The West Penn Warriors U-10 Girls' Softball team recently defeated five teams to win the Pine Grove 10U Junior Girls Softball Tournament. The team was coached by Jim Clifford, Mike Miller, Dan Kowalski, Sean McLaughlin and Danielle Kernick. Tamaqua wins SCYSL U-9 championship

The Tamaqua U-9 boys soccer team captured the Schuylkill County Youth Soccer League championship this season. Tamaqua was in third place during the regular season and then rolled to the championship of the postseason tournament. Tamaqua U-11 boys soccer team unbeaten

The Tamaqua U-11 boys soccer team won recently completed an unbeaten regular season in the Schuylkill County Youth Soccer League. The team was awarded the number #1 seed for the league tournament at Tri Valley. Tamaqua breezed to five straight victories in the tournament, winning three games on Saturday, Oct. 27 and then returning for semifinal and final victories on Sunday, Oct. 28.
