Veterans help

A representative from the Disabled American Veterans will be available once a month at Tamaqua Borough Hall to offer free veteran's claim service for veterans as well as widows and dependent children of veterans.Information and assistance will be provided for service connected disability claims, low income pension, health care claims for service connected disabilities and low income veterans and other questions concerning veterans' benefits.The representative will be at Tamaqua Borough Hall, 320 E. Broad St. at 9 a.m. on March 24.For information, call Margaret at 570-668-0300.Rush TaxesRush Township Tax Collector Dolores Walck is advising residents of a few changes to the dates and times her office will be open.During March and April, the tax office will be open from 9 to 11 a.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays. In May and June, hours will be 9-10 a.m. and 6-7 p.m. on Wednesdays.Walck will have additional hours on April 24 and April 29, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.; April 22 and April 28, from 6 to 7 p.m.The office will be closed on March 5, April 16 and June 11.Swim lessonsThe Tamaqua YMCA is now accepting registrations for youth swim lessons, which will begin on March 31.
