John Mateyak, left, presented two Tamaqua Area High Schoolstudents with scholarships on behalf of his late wife, Karen, who was a math teacher at Tamaqua Area High School. Rebecca Minehan received the Karen Mateyak Mathematics Tutoring Award, and Jared Sharpe earned the Karen Mateyak Mathematics Award, presentedto the student with the highest cumulative average in honormathematics. Also present was Dr Kathryn Kropp of the Tamaqua Blue Raider Foundation, the organization administering the awards.
