A sign posted outside the Penn Forest Township Municipal Building Friday morning tells residents that the township is closed, but provides no other details as to the reason why.

Penn Forest fire departments cannot respond to emergencies at this time either.

Gary Williams, director of the Carbon County Communications Center, said that mutual aid agreements are in place and other local fire companies would respond to an emergency in the township if necessary.

The Times News is looking into the matter and more information will be posted when it becomes available.
