Tamaqua boil advisory

The Tamaqua Borough Water Authority is issuing a water boil advisory for residents of the Dutch Hill section of the Borough of Tamaqua.

The boil advisory will take effect at 7 a.m. on Friday, July 18, for residents who live to the east of Market Street.Customers who live in the East End of the borough will experience low water pressure and some discoloration, but will not have to boil their water. The advisory is due to a leaking 30 inch water main in the area of East Elm Street. The authority will begin repairing/ replacing the pipe beginning at 7 a.m. Friday.Temporary service will be provided by pumping water from the fire hydrant at Market and Union streets to the hydrant at Union and Elizabeth streets. The pumping may create conditions that allow contamination to enter the system, such as disease causing organisms.Residents under the boil advisory should not drink the water unless it has been boiled. This also includes water used to make ice cubes, washing dishes, brushing teeth or preparing food. For further information, call 570-668-0300.
