The area will remain in fog until at least 8 a.m. so allow extra time to get to your destination.Thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and tonight, with strong winds, hail and brief heavy rain leading to ponding in areas of poor drainage. The forecast:

Today: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm. Some of the storms could be severe. Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 89. Southwest wind 5 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before midnight. Some storms could be severe, with large hail and damaging winds. Cloudy, with a low around 66. Southwest wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 86. West wind 5 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 58. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Thursday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 83. Calm wind becoming west around 6 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
