A motorcyclist from Schuylkill County sustained injuries and his passenger was killed in a crash Wednesday in Union Township.

The Centre Daily Times reports that Charles Oliver II, 52, Andreas, was operating a Yamaha motorcycle on Route 504 about 1:40 p.m. when the bike failed to negotiate a curve.The bike left the roadway and ended up in a gravel area, according to state police at Philipsburg.A Port Matilda woman, Karen Moore, 50, died at the scene from injuries.Police said Oliver was flown to Altoona Regional Health System Trauma Center with major injuries.Assisting at the scene were Milesburg Fire Company, Bellefonte EMS and the Centre County coroner.Police said alcohol may have been a factor in the crash and are investigating.
