Teen drivers cited after crashes

Two Schuylkill County teen drivers were cited following two separate crashes in Schuyikill County. The crashes were reported by state police at Schuylkill Haven.

A two-vehicle crash occurred about 9:22 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, along Route 125 in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Matthew J. Yoder, 37, of Tower City, was driving a 1998 Subaru Forrester northbound while a 17-year-old female from Pine Grove, driving a 2001 Ford F150 pickup truck, was southbound.Troopers said the teen's vehicle drifted into the northbound lane and struck the Forrester.After impact the Forrester spun counter-clockwise and crossed the southbound lane and came to rest facing south. The truck came to rest along the shoulder of the road.The teen and her 15-year-old female passenger from Pine Grove, and Yoder, were all not injured. Damages were moderate to both vehicles, Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.The teen was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.The second crash occurred about 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, along at the intersection of SR183 and Schwartz Valley Road, in Wayne Township.Troopers said Mitchell R. Schuller, 18, of Friedensburg, was stopped on Schwartz Valley Road operating a 1989 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck when he pulled out into the path of a 2006 Jeep Commander driven southbound on 183 by Courtney L. Miller, 19, also of Friedensburg, and a collision occurred.Upon impact the Chevrolet spun counter-clockwise and crossed the northbound lane where it came to rest. The Jeep continued northbound a distance before coming to rest.Schuller and two 15-year-old female passengers, and Miller, were all not injured. Both vehicles sustained significant damages, troopers said, and were towed from the scene.Troopers cited Schuller for stop sign violation.
