Tamaqua bridge project continues

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation $2.5 million rehabilitation of the deck and stone arches of the 1904 East Broad Street bridge over the Little Schuylkill River, Tamaqua, is continuing when possible despite unfavorable weather. Work is being performed by Blooming Glen Contractors Inc. The bridge, shown here Thursday, has been closed since June 3 of last year. Project completion date is Nov. 21. The project divides the town's main street, Route 209, and diverts traffic to other sections of the community.
