Rush Township Supervisors are continuing their push to clamp down on residents who are late paying the sewer and garbage fees.

During the board's meeting Monday, the supervisors set a schedule of late fees and penalties to be assessed on the bills. The quarterly sewer rates remain the same for residents of Lake Hauto ($140) and Hometown ($172); but if the bill is not paid 31 days after the due date, a $50 late fee will be assessed. In addition, an administrative fee of $20 will be charged per month each month the bill remains unpaid. The same late fee schedule will be in effect for unpaid garbage bills, which are $180 per year and due by the end of April."We're starting to see a response," Chairman Shawn Gilbert said after the meeting. "We got $6,000 in overdue sewer payments just today."In other action, the supervisors purchased a 2015 Mack plow truck with body and hydraulics for $137,014 from Mack Truck, Allentown. Gilbert said the truck will be financed at a rate of 3.3 percent for 7 years, and paid for from monies set aside from liquid fuels.In other action, during reorganization:Shawn Gilbert was reappointed as chairman and Robert Leibensperger as vice-chairman, with Jeanine Motroni rounding out the board.Darlene Fensermacher was reappointed as secretary/treasurer at a rate of $14.50 per hour and Denise Hope appointed as part-time administrative assistant, at the rate of $12,50 per hour.Christopher Riedlinger was reappointed as solicitor for the board of supervisors at $100 per hour.Peter Fagan was appointed solicitor for the Planning Commission at $120 per hour.Burke & Burke law firm was appointed as solicitor for the Zoning Hearing Board at $85 per hour.Arro Consulting was appointed to be the township's engineering firm, zoning and code enforcement officers, and consultant for the Planning Commission.William Brior and Bruce Dobash were appointed as sewage code enforcement officers at a rate of $40 per hour.Lorraine Brill was appointed as Emergency Management Coordinator.
