D.A.R.E. Challenge will be held March 1 in the Tamaqua Elementary School gym. There will be two sessions, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 2 to 4 p.m.Volunteers will be needed for the event, as well as for set up and clean up.The gym will be set up from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, and at 8:30 a.m. that Saturday. Clean up will be done after the challenge, from 4 to 6 p.m.D.A.R.E. graduation is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on April 10 in the Tamaqua Middle School Auditorium.Donations to help defray the cost may be sent in care of Olga Williams, 209 Brown St., Tamaqua, PA 18252.Catechism for adults"The Most Vivid Catechism Ever Created" will be presented in Tamaqua during Lent.Created by the Rev. Robert Barron, the program is based on what Catholics believe and why they believe it through art, architecture, literature, music and traditions.The program will be held at the Tamaqua ABC High Rise, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. on March 12, March 19, April 1, April 8 an April 15 and from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. on March 26.For more information, or to register, contact Bob Haggerty at the hi rise or the Rev. Broad St., every Tuesday and Thursday. Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday in Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:15 a.m.Ash Wednesday services will be held at 7:30 p.m., on March 5, at Christ Church in McKeansburg.The youth group will meet from 5 to 9 p.m. on March 8.Candy orders are due on March 9.Calvary EvangelicalMajor Sharon Whispell of the Tamaqua Salvation Army will present the message at the 10:25 a.m. worship service Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. The service will include a Second Mile Offering. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, a Bible study session presented by Andrew Gerber, will be held at 6:30 p.m.Ash Wednesday services will be held at McKeansburg Christ Church.
