Two Nesquehoning residents were arrested following a domestic incident that turned physical and involved a weapon. Borough police said the incident occurred at 11:12 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23, at 239 E. Catawissa St.

At the time and date stated Chief Sean Smith and Officer Timothy Wuttke were dispatched by the communications center for a domestic turned violent. As a result of an investigation police arrested Stephanie Lynn Keck, 31, and Michael Richard Kent, 24, both of that address. Both were charged with one count each of simple assault and harassment.Police gave the following account of what happened.Kent claimed that Keck assaulted him by pushing him and grabbing him by the throat. Kent did have scratches and red marks on his throat, police added.Keck told officers that Kent began yelling at her because she was not in the kitchen with her four-year-old daughter, who had stuck her hands in butter. Keck said she went to the kitchen to get her daughter and Kent continued to argue with her and "got in her face." She said she pushed him away and said Kent came after her again to hit her at which time she grabbed his shirt and throat to defend herself.Keck said Kent grabbed a butter knife and came at her with it at which time she called 9-1-1. Keck then told police that Kent put the knife down and then picked it back up and put the knife by his head as if he was going to stab her in the shoulder. Keck said when Kent came after her to stab her she grabbed him by the neck to make him stop at which time he did put down the knife.A witness at the home, identified as Georgetta Perez, told the officers that Kent did have a knife and Kech did grab him by the throat.Smith said the charges were then filed against the two following approval from the district attorney's office.
