Kids consignment sale has new venue

Shoppers and consignors of The Kids Closet Semi-annual Consignment Sale will have a new venue this March.

Danielle Andreas, one of the organizers of the sale, explained that the event, scheduled for March 13-16, has moved to Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe. Previously, the event was held at Jim Thorpe Memorial Hall, and before that at the Lehighton Boys and Girls Band Hall."I am hoping the move to Penn's Peak will bring in more shoppers since it's a well known location, along with a little more space to accommodate more sellers," she said. "Consignment events are huge across the country. My friend and I had shopped a similar sale and we thought it would be fun to bring the idea to Carbon County since we really didn't have a whole lot around here like that."They organized the event in 2010 as a way to help new and veteran mothers stock up on baby necessities; and it has grown in size since then.Andreas said that last September, during the eighth annual sale, over 35,000 items were available for purchase. The sale gives parents and parents-to-be the opportunity to buy and sell quality, gently-used baby, children, teen and maternity necessities at below retail prices. Items not sold are either then picked up by consignors or donated to St. John's Church in Jim Thorpe.Volunteers are also needed to man the event.Andreas said that if you would like to volunteer for a shift, you can sign up online at
