The Tamaqua Safety Initiative and Live the Green Dot Tamaqua will sponsor a presentation on social networking and Internet safety on March 6.The mini seminar will be held from 6:30to 8 p.m. at the Tamaqua Community Art Center, 125 Pine St.The program will be presented by Janene Holter of the state attorney general's office. It is designed to educate while stressing the importance of keeping children safe when they are online. Due to some of the subject material, students who have not reached seventh grade will not be permitted to attend.Younger children will have the opportunity to participate in craft activities, for a donation.For more information, or to register, call 570-668-1192.Trash collectionDue to Thursday's storm, Friday's trash collection in Tamaqua has been postponed until Saturday.Winter walkSchuylkill On the Move (SOM), a project promoting positive steps toward good health through walking, will host a Winter Walk on Feb. 16 along the local Lehigh Valley and New England Rail Trail in South Tamaqua. The walk will be held from 1:30-3:30 p.m. and will begin at Stonehedge Gardens, located on Dairy Road near the intersection of Route 309 and Route 443.The four-mile ramble is considered to be an easy walk, but participants should wear appropriate footwear and dress for the winter weather.For more information, contact Mike McKinney at
