Despite Tamaqua giving up five forfeits in their Schuylkill League clash with Panther Valley, there was some good wrestling on display on Tuesday.

The Panthers used those forfeits to their advantage, along with getting five more victories on the mat to come away with a 51-18 victory."We wrestled fairly well tonight," said Panther Valley head wrestling coach Timothy Robb. "I thought that we were strong right through the middle of our match tonight."Robb was referring to the strong performances he saw from fellow Panthers Gary Goodhile and Lenny Ogozalek. Goodhile, wrestling at 106 pounds, pinned the much improving raider freshman Jasper Stocker in 1:21.Both coaches knew the 113 match-up between Ogozalek and Tamaqua's Tanner McHugh would be a close battle. Ogozalek defeated McHugh, 3-1."They've wrestled three times this year and Lenny just has his number right now," said Tamaqua head wrestling coach Jon Mashack. "Lenny is a really tough kid but Tanner looks forward to wrestling him and I'm glad to see that he's very competitive as a freshman. They may see each other next week at districts as well."The Panthers received solid contributions from Zackary Glassik and Hunter Davidyock, whom have been battling injuries this season."Glassik is coming off an ankle injury. He got a few matches in so far," said Robb "We didn't think he would be back for us this season as he was out for five months. I'm really happy to see him back in the lineup."The Panther Valley coach acknowledged Davidyock's strong showing, as he has been battling a knee injury. Davidyock was victorious 5-2 against a tough wrestler in Malik Roper.Mashack liked what he saw out of Roper during the last bout."Malik is extremely competitive and tough as a second year wrestler," said Mashack. "You can tell he's putting the time and work in developing as a wrestler and I'm looking forward to seeing him over the summer to work more."The Tamaqua head coach acknowledged three other Raiders as standouts in the match.Colin Mashack and Dylan Rynkiewicz each pinned their opponents in 0:21 and 1:11 respectively."I think our underclassmen really enjoy watching these two wrestle," said Mashack. "These two guys also help out the coaches a lot when they see the younger guys making mistakes aside from leading by example on the mat. Colin will definitely be missed next year. I think Dylan is peaking right now as a junior and I'm looking for him to make some noise, going into regionals."Colin "Bud" Moyer was also impressive in tonight's match for the Raiders."He's developing and starting to really get more physical," said Mashack. He's now able to control the pace of the match much more. Hopefully he can get a few wins at districts next week."Robb knows tonight was a test for some of his wrestlers as districts are rapidly approaching."Tamaqua had some holes in their lineup, but they also have some great wrestlers.
