Pleasant Valley School District recalls 2 furloughed employees

The Pleasant Valley School District board of directors voted 8-0 with Dominick Sacci absent to approve recalling two former PVSD furloughed employees: Adrianne Keefer as a long-term second-grade substitute until Nov. 26; Kelly Collins, PVHS health room technician for Deborah Daly, effective Aug. 26 through Nov. 26.

The board approved hiring Kristin Fuentes, substitute custodian/secretary; Philip Masiello substitute health and physical education; Kristen Pierri, secretary, full-time, PVE, replacement position for Susan Vegetable; and Melissa Snyder, substitute custodian.The board approved the transfer of professional staff: Gena Orlowski, health and physical education teacher from PVHS to PVI/PVE; Matt Gould, PVE to PVMS; Joseph Agolino from PVMS to PVI; Valerie Seligman, ninth-grade German teacher from PVHS/PVMS to PVHS; James Shoopack, Spanish teacher, PVMS to PVHS/PVMS; Cory McKeever, speech and language impaired from Polk/PVI to PVE; Dave Stefani from PVMS dean of students to PVMS health and physical education; Drew Davis, health and physical education from PVMS to PVE.ResignationsThe board approved the following resignations with effective dates: Mark Allison, substitute teacher, July 29; William Gouger, part-time paraprofessional associate, July 31; Anna Hill, part-time food service employee, July 31; Shellie Menzoff, part-time paraprofessional associate, Aug. 26; Yvette Shelter, teacher, July 28; Beverly Galasso, substitute monitor/paraprofessional associate, Aug. 7; Theresa Lusardi, part-time paraprofessional associate, Aug. 22, but will remain on substitute paraprofessional associate list; H. Scott Olsen, part-time security officer, Aug. 24; Lorrie Snyder as a marching band adviser but will volunteer; Michelle Fisher as assistant varsity field hockey coach; Angie Pachuta as volunteer coach for varsity field hockey.Angie Pachuta was named as assistant varsity field hockey coach.Costs approvedThe board approved purchasing 125 copies of "The Woods Runner" by Gary Paulsen for seventh-grade students at $4.47 each for a total of $557.50.The board approved contracts with Colonial Intermediate Unit 20 to provide services for the 2014-15 school year: educational audiology services, $221.03 an hour; itinerant hearing support, $147.70 an hour; itinerant vision support, $259.79 an hour; occupational therapy, $112.09 an hour; physical therapy, $128.85 an hour; psychological services, $108.94 an hour; speech and language support, $109.99 an hour; psychiatric evaluation, $256.75; psychiatric amendment, $102.70; fee for no-show appointment, $102.70; fee for cancellation, less than 48 hours' notice, $102.70; provide sign language interpreting services, $32.68 an hour.The board approved the contract with Colonial Intermediate Unit 20 to provide an associate teacher for direct, one-on-one services at the following locations for the 2014-15 school year not to exceed $185,370: Clear Run Intermediate School-multidisabilities support, Colonial Academy-life skills support and partial hospitalization program, PVE-physical support Washington Elementary School-autistic support.Contracts were approved with: Richard A. Shillabeer to provide psychoeducational evaluations services from July 23 until submission of evaluation report to the district up to $4,000; Mad Science of Lehigh Valley for eight-week after-school program at PVE for the school year at a cost of $85 per participant; CSI, fire alarm, intercom, TV preventive maintenance agreement for PVMS, effective Oct. 1-Sept. 30, 2015, at $5,976 annually; CSI, for auditorium A/V system preventive maintenance agreement for PVHS, effective Oct. 1-Sept. 30, 2015, at $888 annually; Bethany M. Lengel, certified registered nurse practitioner at $10.50 for each ACCESS service description slip required for medical ACCESS reimbursement.Resolutions approvedThe board approved the following resolutions:• Providing health care coverage to certain employees and their dependents at their expense who work on average 30 hours or more a week in compliance with the Affordable Care Act• Providing the same coverage for the same-sex spouse of employees and their eligible dependents as would be provided to opposite-sex spouses and their eligible dependents under the health, dental and vision plans) of the PVSD.
