A Tamaqua man who made methamphetamine in the home where he lived with his girlfriend and six-month-old daughter will spend 16 months to three years behind bars.

Travis Boerner, 25, of Tamaqua, was charged by Tamaqua police with operating the meth lab, conspiracy, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of red phosphorus, endangering the welfare of children, and recklessly endangering another person. The charges stem from an incident on Dec. 22, 2013.Firefighters and law enforcement authorities on that day converged on the house at 227 Lafayette St., where Boerner lived with Desiree Cramer, 22. Police arrested Boerner, Cramer and two other people, David C. Miller Jr., 24, of 65 Sunny Drive, MaryD; and Taylor Skwait, 19, of 225 Peacock St., Pottsville.President Judge William Baldwin on July 23 sentenced Boerner to 16 to 36 months in state prison and to pay state lab fees of $1,949 on the meth lab charge, and to serve eight to 24 months in prison on the child endangerment charge. The prison terms are to run consecutively. The charges of conspiracy, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of red phosphorus were dropped.Boerner was among several local people on whom Schuylkill County judges have recently imposed sentences.Carlos Verela, 24, of McAdoo: Judge Jacqueline Russell on July 23 sentenced Verela to serve 10 days in jail, with work release effective Aug. 10. he must then serve five months and 20 days on intermediate punishment, including 40 days of house arrest with electronic monitoring, then 40 days of strict supervision followed by three months of probation.He must also pay a $750 fine contribute $100 to the Substance Abuse Education Fund and other fees and fines; complete DUI school, surrender his license for a year and serve 20 hours of community service..Verela had been charged on June 30, 2013 with two counts of driving under the influence and speeding. The charges of speeding and one DUI count were dropped.Matthew Reabold, 26, of Tamaqua: Charged by Tamaqua police with delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility, and possession of a controlled substance. The charges stem from an incident on Aug. 8, 2013.Judge Russell sentenced Reabold to fees and costs; and to serve from three months to 23 months in jail, and perform 20 hours of community service.The charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility were dropped in plea negotiations.Kemper Ritchie, 46, of New Ringgold: Charged by the Schuylkill County District Attorney's Office with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia stemming from an incident on Nov. 4, 2013.Russell sentenced him to pay court costs and fees, serve from 29 days to 12 months in jail, and perform community service.Jeremy Behler, 20, of Jim Thorpe: Charged by Rush Township police with altering, forging, or counterfeiting documents and plates, and failing to use safety belts on July 14, 2013.Judge John E. Domalakes sentenced him to pay fines and fees totaling $360. He also must pay a bench warrant fee of $238. The counterfeiting charge was dropped.
