It was a colorful event over the weekend in Tamaqua as over 250 participants and volunteers took part in the first annual Colors For Education Day held on the grounds of the Tamaqua Sports Stadium.

The day included a 5K run/walk, fun run for kids, dunk tank, food and a number of other activities.

During the event, participants would pass by as volunteers threw colored powder on them.

Colors for Education was held in support of the Tamaqua Blue Raider Foundation (TBRF). The privately established TBRF was created to assist Tamaqua Area School District in supporting projects that are outside the school district's operational budget. Acting autonomously, the Foundation engages in fundraising activities to assist Tamaqua area students in achieving their maximum potential.

Key organizer Johanna Ulicny stated the volunteers appreciation to the participants, volunteers, school district, school board, staff and sponsors. Ulicny added that next year's event will be even better.

Robert A. Miller III, President, TBRF, and Walter E. Kruczek, Vice President, TBRF, stated the Foundation's Board of Director's appreciation to Ulicny and everyone else who participated in the event.
