Man facing second sexual assault charge

A Palmerton man accused of the alleged sexual assault of a female about 20 years ago will have his case bound over to Carbon County Court.

Herman Hollenbach, 56, was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton. But, instead, Hollenbach chose to waive his right to the hearing, and will appear before the County Court of Common Pleas for a pretrial status conference on Nov. 14.Hollenbach faces charges of statutory rape, endangering welfare of child, corruption of minors, rape - forcible compulsion, rape - threat of forcible compulsion, incest, indecent assault without consent of others, and indecent assault over 18/under 14.He remains incarcerated in Carbon County Prison in lieu of $50,000 straight bail.According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Palmerton patrolman Kevin Buck, Buck was approached by the alleged victim, who advised that Hollenbach was responsible for repeated sexual assaults of her that occurred while she was between the ages of 11-14.The victim stated that Hollenbach would keep telling her that no one would believe her, and everyone would think something was wrong with her if she tried to tell someone. The victim added that the abuse continued until right before her 15th birthday.Buck advised Hollenbach of the allegations, at which time Hollenbach dropped his head and said that the alleged victim was lying.Hollenbach stated that the incidents usually took place at a home on Mauch Chunk Road while his wife was at pool league, but that things also happened in his car, and at his place of employment. He was already incarcerated in the county prison in lieu of $250,000 straight bail for the alleged sexual assault of a minor. In that case, Hollenbach faces charges on four counts of indecent assault, three counts of aggravated indecent assault, and one count each of indecent exposure and corruption of minors. He is awaiting trial on that case, and has a pretrial status conference scheduled for Oct. 15.
