Lehighton Bible Church events

Lehighton Bible Church, Jamestown and Center streets, will host a men's breakfast and fellowship at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Beacon 443 Diner.

At 1:30 p.m., Sunday Sept. 29, Prison Ministry will be offered at the Carbon County Prison

On Sunday Oct. 6, the 43rd anniversary of Lehighton Bible Church will be celebrated with cake and coffee at the morning service.

Weekly services will be held on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m., Sundays at 10 a.m., and Sundays at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome.

Meet Reggie "Truck" Brown

The Deaf Welcome Center, Lehighton, is hosting a meet Reggie "Truck" Brown event at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Bus Stop Flea Market, 8281 Route 873, Door 2, Slatington. Brown is a former member of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Trinity happenings

Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, will hold 18th Sunday after Pentecost worship. The service will include baptism of a baby boy plus "Harvest Home" observance. This is a time set aside in the fall for thankfulness for the bounties of the harvest. A donation of a nonperishable food item (such as tuna, jelly, pasta) is requested. All food items will remain at Trinity for distribution via the pantry. Interim pastor Rev. Donald Hayn will preside. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

Sunday School classes will meet at 10:15 a.m. for ages 3 through grade 12.

Information on confirmation classes for students in seventh and eighth grades will have an orientation meeting with parents at 11:45 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at Dinkey Memorial Church, Ashfield. The Rev. Tony Pagotto will teach the combined classes (while the search for a full-time pastor continues).

Consider participating in the local CROP walk on Sunday, Oct. 13 at Lehigh Canal Park, Weissport. Registration is at 1 p.m. and the walk starts at 2 p.m. The course is 1-4 miles. Call the church office for pledge forms. Money received benefits Trinity Food Pantry, and Church World Services for relief and development programs. Walkers and sponsors are welcome.

Lehigh Canal Commission

The Lehigh Canal Recreation Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26 at the pavilion at the Weissport trail head. Meetings are open to the public.

Good News Clubs

Good News Clubs After school/In Schools, sponsored by Child Evangelism Fellowship of Carbon-Lehigh Counties are starting back up from October-April in various schools in the area.

Sessions are held in Lehighton Area School District at Franklin, Shull-David, and Mahoning elementary schools and at Panther Valley, and Slatington elementary schools.

Good News Club is an hour-and-a-half program once a week where the children will sing songs, hear a Bible story, learn about missions, play games, and more.
