Mr. and Mrs. James Sofranko of Jim Thorpe recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married on Aug. 10, 1963 at St. Joseph's Church in Jim Thorpe by Monsignor Joseph P. Marzen.

The former Florence Butchko is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Butchko of Jim Thorpe. She is the owner of Florence Sofranko Beauty Salon in Jim Thorpe.Her husband is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Sofranko of Jim Thorpe. He is retired from his position as manager of the Jim Thorpe Market.The couple has two children: Michael, married to Therese, of Jim Thorpe; and Steven, married to Karen, of Lehighton. They have four grandchildren: Michael, Emily, Matthew and Madelyn.A reception was held in their honor at Capriotti's Palazzo, McAdoo, hosted by their children.
