Two hours after firefighters were called to the Weatherly Casting and Machine Company this morning, black smoke could still be seen rising from a center section of the company's roof.

Firefighters were called to the location just before 6 for a report of a commercial fire.

"We arrived to rising black smoke coming from the center of the roof," said Eric Brill, assistant fire chief for Weatherly. "Firefighters got a good knock down on the fire."

Firefighters utilized heavy extension ladders and aerial trucks to reach the roof of the structure.

Responding were firefighters from Weatherly, Freeland, Beaver Meadows and Hazle Township. McAdoo was held on standby at their station. Also responding were Weatherly police, ambulance and fire police.

There was no word on the cause or exact location of the fire. No injuries were reported.
