Woman facing trespass charges

A Schuylkill County woman is facing a charge of criminal trespass following an incident that occurred on Aug. 13, about 6:15 p.m., and reported this week by state police at Frackville.

Troopers said at the time and date stated the husband of Sheri Boyer, 41, of Ringtown, went to farm property they own at 103 Aristes Road, in Union Township, to tend to farm animals.Upon arrival he discovered an adult female and a juvenile female well inside the gated boundary of the property, rooting through items in a tool shed. The man confronted the woman, who identified herself as Barbara Umlauf, 61, of Ashland, and demanded that she leave his property. Umlauf said she was there investigating an animal cruelty complaint. She and the young girl then left the property, walked down the road and got into a black SUV, and drove away. The man then inspected the property and noted that the corral fencing for his horse pen had been moved so that the horse could not reach its water barrel. Boyer was summoned to the scene and she noted trespassing signs were missing. It was later reported that Umlauf is listed as the director of the Hillside SPCA in Pottsville. The investigation of the incident is continuing, troopers said.
