Students study Tamaqua's rock formations

Students from Kutztown University's field geology program spent time over the weekend studying rock stratigraphy and related formations. Stratigraphy is a branch of geology which involves the study of rock layers and layering. Instructor Sarah Tindall, professor of geology, is working with the students to document items related to Mauch Chunk Formation and Pottsville Formation. Tindall talks to her students Donna Post (holding a Brunton Compass) and Micah Bollinger, while sitting atop a rock formation along SR309 between Hometown and Tamaqua.
