Vendetta resultsin poor decision

Letter to the editor:

I would like the people of Lansford to know that the Borough Council voted last week to remove the reserved parking spaces from in front of the Fire Chiefs' houses because of a personal vendetta, thus putting the residents at risk. This has been a "perk" of being a Fire Chief in the Borough of Lansford for over 30 years, and I admit it has been a huge convenience to our families, but these men have earned it.When making this decision they didn't think about the safety issue this could cause. Those chiefs are asked to respond to all sorts of emergency calls, at any hour of the day, during any type of weather conditions. In the past I have to commend the borough workers for making sure these spots were always clean and the chiefs were able to get to the emergency in a short amount of time.As we all know the winter parking, especially in Lansford, has many obstacles and it is not always a guarantee that you will get the same spot that you spent hours cleaning that morning, on a consistent basis. If an emergency happened and any one of these chiefs were not able to get out and get to the scene because they had to dig out their vehicle, it could result in a life or death situation. Are these council members truly willing to do this to the residents of Lansford? Please support your local fire fighters, don't put this town at risk because council is mad at the mayor for fighting for its police department or not attending monthly meetings.SincerelyJenny HoodLansford
