Nevin Smith, a resident of The Village at Palmerton, observed his 92nd birthday Oct. 9.

Nevin is a retired World War II Army veteran, having served as a rifleman with the 151st Infantry, Company G, from 1942-1945. After returning from the service, he gained employment at Atlas Cement and he married his childhood sweetheart.He and his late wife Verna, raised eight children: Wilfred, Ruth, Allen, Jay, Richard, Louis, Louise and Victoria.Nevin enjoys music programs, chatting with others, and traveling out on lunch trips. His lady friend Dorothy visits quite often and they attend many of the programs together.
