ANDREW LEIBENGUTH/TIMES NEWS About a dozen pets were blessed in Tamaqua during the Calvary Episcopal Church's pet blessing service held in addition to its regular service on Sunday. The Pet Blessing Service lasted about an hour and was held in the downstairs of the church. The Rev. Rob Gildersleeve held the service, in addition to focusing on St Francis of Assisi. The church has done this service since 2007. Many of the pet owners pointed out their appreciation of the church's recognition of their love for their pets. Rev. Gildersleeve blesses "Teripian" and "Ashberry", two red-eared sliders (turtles) cared for by Baily Defazio, Tamaqua.
