PVMS student wins local Lions International Peace Poster Contest

Adriana LeBar, a seventh-grade student at the Pleasant Valley Middle School, won the local level of the Lions International Peace Poster Contest competition sponsored by the Western Pocono Lions Club.

Adriana's poster was among more than 375,000 entries submitted worldwide in the 26th annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest. Lions Clubs International is sponsoring the contest to emphasize peace to young people everywhere.According to the Effort teen, if it were not for family and friends the world would just not be the same. A figure on the left represents friends and family and a figure on the right represents her. A tree represents life and that we could not exist without them. Orange and yellow represent the radiant glow from a peaceful world.The poster was selected as the best for portraying the theme "Our World, Our Future" by the board of directors.LeBar's poster will advance to the Lions District 14U competition. The winner of that competition will then advance to the multidistrict competition followed by the international competition. One grand prize winner and 23 merit winners will be chosen on the international level.Lions Clubs International is the worlds largest service club organization with 1.35 million members in more than 46,000 clubs in 206 countries and geographic areas. In addition to its efforts toward conquering blindness, the organization has made a strong commitment to community service and helping youth throughout the world.
