Pocono arts council hosts holiday festival

The Ninth Annual Skytop Holiday Arts Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Executive Conference Center at Skytop Lodge, Skytop, sponsored by the Pocono Mountain Arts Council. Admission is free and the facility is handicap-accessible.

More than fifty booths will showcase their work. The exhibit will include the work of: artisans producing functional and artistic pottery; wood-turned pieces; wood art; furniture and functional wood accessories; fused and stained glass work; jewelry in a variety of styles including beading, wirework and metalsmithing; women's apparel and accessories in fine woven, felted knit and pieces, as well as carpet bags, totes and satchels, and hand-painted silks. The fine arts will be represented by photographers working in traditional and digitally-enhanced modes, and by painters whose work ranges over a wide variety of styles and mediums - including watercolor, gouache, oil, acrylics, pastels and mixed media. There will also be a live watercolor painting demonstration.Artwork of the area's students will be showcased, featuring the work of the Pocono Homeschoolers and work by Sandi Carter's students at the Evergreen School, a charter school in Cresco.Directions to Skytop are available online at
