Judge sentences criminal defendants

People who entered guilty pleas to criminal charges in Schuylkill County court were sentenced by Judge Jacqueline Russell:

Krystal M. Evans, 426 Pine St., Tamaqua, recklessly endangering another person, placed on probation 12 months, and ordered to pay $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account, submit to a drug and alcohol evaluation program, enroll and successfully complete parenting classes, and make restitution of $460 to Schuylkill Medical Center. Evans was cited by Coaldale Patrolman Joseph Krebs.A charge of driving under the influence of drugs was dismissed.James Edward Gilson, 223 W. Rowe St., Tamaqua, criminal conspiracy and theft from a motor vehicle, placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA, perform 40 hours of community service, and make restitution of $12 to Arthur Connelly. Gilson was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Michael Hobbs.William Arthur Frye, 42, of 26 W. Main St., Quakake, Rush Township, theft of a generator from Quakake Fire Company and giving false report to police, placed on probation 23 months, pay $50 to CJEA, and perform 40 hours community service. Frye was cited by Rush Patrolman Bradley Hess.Scott Francis Branz Jr., of 40 E. Grant St., McAdoo, two counts of simple assault and one count each of terroristic threats and recklessly endangering another person was placed on probation 23 months, pay $50 to CJEA, perform 80 hours of community service, submit to a drug and alcohol evaluation, enroll in Anger Management Program, and have no contact with the victim. Branz was cited by McAdoo Chief Jeffrey Wainwright.Sabrina Lawson, 36, of 171 Hazel St., Delano, Delano Township, theft of leased property by renting a computer from Rent-A-Center, Hometown, and failing to keep up payments, placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA, perform 20 hours community service, and make restitution of $1,039.68 to the store. Lawson was cited by Rush Patrolman Ryan Rehatchek.Natalie Cherkoski, 43, Shenandoah, entered a no defense to DUI of drugs and was placed in the Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) for six months, including 15 days under house arrest with electronic monitoring and pay a daily fee of $12, fined $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to MCARE fund, complete safety school, complete outpatient treatment, perform 20 hours community service, pay $460 to SMC, and driver's license suspended 12 months.On a summary charge of careless driving she was fined $25 plus costs. Cherkoski was cited by Butler Township Lt. Daniel Holderman.Randy MichaelGelbutis, 43, Shenandoah, pleaded no defense to a charge of open lewdness and was sentenced to serve two weeks to 12 months in the county prison, pay $50 to CJEA, and perform 20 hours community service.Each defendant must also pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
