Derek Shellhamer, 26, of 307 Arlington St., Tamaqua, was taken into custody by Tamaqua police on Nov. 10 on an outstanding warrant issued by the Schuylkill County Adult Probation Office.

Acting on a tip officers went to 307 Arlington St. at 3 p.m. The front door was posted with a no trespassing sign, placed by the Tamaqua Code Enforcement Office. Checking the property officers noticed the basement door was broken. They entered and conducted a sweep, finding Shellhamer hiding in a closet on the second floor. A pat down search found a metal spoon, waxed packing material and one half of a pill inscribed with the numbers 434 on Shellhamer's person.A probation officer picked up Shellhamer and took him to the county prison in Pottsville.Borough police also have a felony warrant for Shellhamer and will be filing drug charges related to the pat down search.
