Summit Hill Lions flag program honors vets

The Summit Hill Lions Club will conclude its American flag for the year by flying the flag this week in Ludlow Park in memory and honor of all veterans.

The program was held throughout the summer and fall monthsas a means of honoring and/or memorializing veterans from the community. The club accepted requests from family members of veterans to fly the flag in their relatives' honor or memory for one-week periods.Due to the adverse effect the winter weather has on the flags, the program will not continue until early 2014.Town residents are invited to contact Lions Club members to have a family member or friend scheduled to be honored or memorialized with the startup of the program early next year by calling Joseph O'Gurek Jr., 570-645-5171.The only stipulations are that the person being recognized is a current or former town resident and must have served in the Armed Services.
