A Carbon County Correctional facility inmate who assaulted another prisoner and three correctional officers has been arrested by Nesquehoning police on four charges, including three felonies.

Walter Alexander Bond, 18, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count each of assault by a prisoner, all felony charges, and one count of simple assault, a misdemeanor.

The charges stem from an incident at 7:56 p.m. Sept. 15 at the jail.

Police said it is alleged Bond began assaulting another inmate, identified as Benjamin F. Williams, in the latter's cell that was located in the restricted housing unit of the facility, by stabbing him with a pen.

Police said correctional officer Larry Williams entered the cell and began to intervene to restrain Bond, but the inmate continued to assault the other inmate, trying to stab him multiple times and kicking him while yelling that he was going to kill him.

During the struggle, correctional officer Williams suffered serious injury to his shoulder.

Police said multiple other guards raced to the scene to assist in breaking up the fracas, during which time correctional officers James Lang and Joseph Gurka assisted in restraining Bond while he continued to fight. Police said Lang suffered an injury to his neck while Gurka was punched in the face.

Police said Bond is currently being held at the State Correctional Institute in Mahanoy Township.
