Washed out from the recent heat wave?
Then perhaps there's no better way to cool off then to take a dip in the Palmerton Memorial Pool.
Those who want to feel refreshed and reinvigorated should come out to the pool, which will open for its 67th season at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The pool will also be open from 1-8 p.m. Sunday, and noon to 8 on Monday, Memorial Day.
Larry Arner, general manager of the pool, encouraged everyone to attend the Memorial Day Parade and services in town on Monday before heading to the pool.
Arner said "hope to see everyone there to enjoy the great facility we have right here in this fine community."
The pool will begin regular hours of operation as of June 7, when it will be open from noon-8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 10-8 Saturdays, and 1-8 Sundays.
Anyone who purchased season passes may pick them up the first time they visit the pool this season. Those who had a pass last year and are still in possession of their key tag are asked to bring that with them when they come the first time so it can be reactivated if they purchased a pass this year.
Swim lessons at the pool will be held June 17 through July 12. Preregistration is required, and can be done from June 3-16 at the pool office during pool hours. For more information on lessons, inquire at the pool office.
All children in the area are also welcome to join the swim team, which begins their practices on May 28 at 6 p.m. at the pool. For more swim team information, call (610)-681-6265.
For more pool information, call (610-826- 5357), and leave a message, as the staff is busy finishing the prep work for opening day.
There have been some improvements made this spring, such as two new diving boards, as well as new sidewalks around the edge of the pool. The entire pool received a fresh paint job this spring as well.
The pool hosts graduation, birthday, and anniversary parties, as well as family reunions at the large pavilion in the grove at Palmerton Memorial Park. For birthday parties, there is also a pavilion inside the pool area as well.
The pavilions at the pool have various dates available. For reservations, call Arner at (610)-349-1085.
Pool Pals of Palmerton Memorial Park will also have a full schedule of special events through the summer.
